Within the past decade, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come along leaps and bounds, completely disrupting many industries such as retail and education. As exciting as the technology is, it is still in its infancy, which means we can only expect more over the next year. So, what’s in store for 2019? From warehouse robots to self-driving cars, here is a look at some must-see AI technology:

1. AI-Enabled Chips
It’s been announced that chip manufacturers like Intel, AMD and ARM will ship specialised chips that can speed up the execution of AI-enabled applications. These special chips will be optimised for specific cases and scenarios that are typically related to computer vision, language and speech recognition. It is also predicted that hyperscale infrastructure companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google will increase investment in custom chips which will be heavily optimised for running modern workloads based on AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

2. Self-Driving Cars
Self-driving cars have long been in the forefront of our minds when we think about what we envision the future to look like. Tesla was one of the first companies to launch a self-driving vehicle. In a bid not to be left behind, the likes of Audi are also set to release their own sophisticated self-driving car in 2019. The Audi A8 will feature advanced technology which is capable of safety transporting humans without driver input. The technology is also being used by Uber, who hope to develop the first self-driving taxis.

3. Efficient Logistics
Amazon and Alibaba have pioneered using robots in warehouses. By using a combination of artificial intelligence and advanced robotics, big box retailers have unprecedented logistics. Currently, these robots do 70% of the work in a warehouse. They are able to carry up to 500 kilograms above them as they make their way around, careful not to crash into other robots as they’re fitted with special sensors that help them avoid one another. This quick and effective method of choosing goods and packing them off to customers saves the likes of Amazon time and money, while also minimising the risk of human error.

4. AI Content Creation
When it comes to digital marketing, it is imperative that a company keeps in with their brand identity design. This means that they need to remain consistent across all platforms with their content creation. AI provides an opportunity for publishers to turn written content into video content quickly and seamlessly through AI video production. This will help publishers to create compelling videos in minutes that they can then share across all platforms.

5. Automated Machine Learning
Machine learning has the ability to help employees, especially those in research or analysis roles. Automated machine learning, powered by artificial intelligence, will help business analysts and developers in complex scenarios without having to go through the typical process of training ML models. It will allow workers to stay focused on the business problem itself instead of getting lost in the process and workflow.
