misconception about seo
Not able to rank on the first page, inspire of the sheer amount of strategies used by you??

Got stuck in your ongoing SEO campaign ?? Or Not aware of the latest trends for optimizing your site for SEO or outdated trends which once considered as the definite ranking factors?

Don't stress, I have got you all covered, I will be disclosing some the old school conventions on which once people banked upon.

I will reveal those popular SEO practices which are unknowingly adopted by many businesses, marketers, and individuals that no longer do good, rather detriment your overall performance if used extensively.

Without creating suspense lets look them all one by one.

1. More keywords in title & title tag
You might have stunned reading the text, as when you think of the SEO keywords comes to mind firstly. But that's a reality, using more keywords in the title and additionally mentioning them as title tags are not as effective as it used to be.

Those practices were prevalent. you were Wishing to supposedly hit that magical keyword density number and yielding great results.

We did what marketers believed as good: the more the better.

In contrary to that, using them much makes headline less compelling for a user to click on it.

That is what observed in stats. user are more likely to click on compelling headlines than those boring title such as - mobile app development services/ios developers.

It will draw fewer users than the title “one-stop mobile app development services”, in spite of the lone keyword used.

2. Exclusive landing page for each keyword variant
This is another tactic which has been used by webmasters and marketers, thinking that will yield more traffic. Even though there is more landing page for gathering traffic it's not beneficial in the present time.

Nowadays search engine crawlers & spiders are smarter than the extent to which meaning of smartness is known by you.

The AI system of google algorithm named rankbrain can even rank your site for a keyword not used by you.

It's prevalent in several service providers.but with the inception of hemming Bird and rankbrain algorithm, pages with similar intent are perceived by search engine as a one.

Making many unnecessary pages also supposedly makes navigation of the site difficult.

Therefore striving for making separate pages will fetch you nowhere rather a smarter way would be to use all variants into a single page, collaborating all in one page.

3. Anchor text in internal linking
People with some years of experience in the Seo industry are pretty much aware that how substantial interlinking is. That is distribution of link juice thoroughly in your site.

Have seen many marketers using anchor text to enhance SEO and fall straight on their heads.

Algorithms check those texts and where it's leading towards. using much of them and keeping more keyword or nearby meaning words of keywords as anchor text is understood as an ill practice.

Using them optimally is the right way forward, it has to be used where they are actually needed and braces the knowledge pillar of the user.

Revamping your strategy is highly recommended if you are in it already.

4. Exact matching domain
There is the hype that having the keyword, for which you want to be ranked, in a domain is essential.

Well it happens to be the case in the past, using this strategy, websites were climbing to the rankings rapidly.

In some instances it were days or weeks in which they got success.

Since google’s algorithms got over with it, using a matching difference makes no difference at all.

Especially those bloggers who do event blogging or seasonal blogging, buy those matching domain to start off. While it is helpful a bit.but not that much.
Particularly if you are b2b personal it will barely matter in the long run.

Over the period of time it has been observed that such domain gets lesser click as compared to names with easy to remember terms.

Which also looks more credible and brand some.

If keywords used in names, they don’t create a brand effect as such.say for example – “digitalmarketinginahmedabad.com”.looks awfully weird isn’t it?

Hence it is a rotten way.

5. Directory submissions & blog commenting
I have seen people rush into hundred of directory submissions as soon as they start their website/ blog. For most of the history, those submissions are of less significance.

It was done to facilitate users with ease of finding the content they are looking for.

They were of trivial value to user. except some of the high authority directories.

How come you believed that you can outsmart Google algorithms..!!

With the advent of rankbrain in technology, two linked pages are checked in detail for their relevance.

It can easily detect that you have submitted using one IP and probably that too sitting at one place lol.

Search engines have been starting to ignoring the link directories.

Also making a backlink through commenting is an old way now.

Leaving comments and building a good relationship with the user is good, the problem comes when you use it at scale.

What’s more? it also counted as a no follow the link by platforms like WordPress and others.

Those links convey a signal to the search engine as to not give any credit or authority to comment link.

You can only benefit yourself if you are adding value through your comment, it should be like mini-article for say.

And at the end you can put your link, don't ever think of leaving a link only.

6. Search engine submission
Gone are the days when it was mandatory for owners to submit their sites to search engines in order that search engines get notified about the existence of the site.

One might think of it as getting their links indexed quickly, but the truth is it is going to be indexed in either way. The only thing one needs to ensure is to submit a sitemap to google search console.

People used to pay for their site’s manual submission to search engines. Why to waste time and make someone else earning the bucks out of your perseverance.

Yes you heard it right they are to benefit when you leave upon them to do search engine submissions.

To sum up
An efficient SEO strategy is one that works today as well as years after. the tricks & tactics are crucial .but to a certain extent. For an instance using keywords in anchor text is fine to a certain limit, doing it much can backfire. Same goes for link submissions, commenting, separate landing pages and so forth. SEO is no longer the thing which it once used to be. one should retire from such old school practices. It's a waste of time and nothing else also can prove to be potential damage to your SEO more often than not, if applied extensively.
